The 2025 State of the Agentic Automation Professional report points to a clear and often underrecognized asset already inside many organizations: automation professionals.
These individuals understand business processes, work closely with enterprise systems, and are already integrating AI into their daily development work. Their experience offers executives a grounded view of how an AI-enabled workforce forms and how agentic capabilities begin to take shape.
Based on responses from 1,423 professionals and students across the UiPath Community, this year’s report highlights four insights that matter for organizations preparing for agentic automation.
A significant finding in this year’s report is the widening scope of the automation professional’s work. What once centered on task-based automation now includes designing multi-agent workflows, coordinating reasoning and decision making across processes, and integrating AI agents that operate with context and autonomy.
The data shows strong momentum behind this shift. Seventy-four percent of automation professionals are using or experimenting with agentic automation. Fifty-one percent are designing workflows specifically for AI agents. Many report building or running AI agents weekly, indicating meaningful, ongoing adoption inside enterprise teams.
This reflects a natural evolution of the profession. Automation professionals already understand orchestration, governance, and process design, making them well-positioned to shape the next generation of enterprise automation. Their skill set is expanding to meet the demands of agentic systems, and their work is becoming more strategic as a result.

The survey findings show that automation professionals see the UiPath Platform™ as an important enabler in their agentic automation work. Eighty-six percent of respondents say their experience with UiPath helps them work effectively with agentic automation. Another 86% believe UiPath supports agentic automation better than other platforms they have used. Engagement with the UiPath Community has reached its highest level in six years, with 89% identifying as members.
Interest in UiPath agentic capabilities—such as Agent Builder in UiPath Studio and UiPath Maestro™—is growing quickly. Professionals are adopting these tools as a natural extension of their existing skills, strengthening their readiness for agentic work without having to learn entirely new development environments.

Executives want to understand what AI will do for their employees. Automation professionals are already demonstrating that shift. They are one of the first groups to integrate AI into their everyday work at scale, and the results offer a practical preview of how AI can elevate productivity, creativity, and problem-solving across the enterprise.
About two-thirds of professionals report using AI-powered or agentic tools in their development workflows. They most commonly use AI for code generation, workflow design, and troubleshooting. Nearly half say AI reduces the time they spend on repetitive tasks. Many rely on leading LLMs such as OpenAI GPT and Gemini for drafting, analysis, and ideation. Python has become their top language for AI-driven development.

These behaviors illustrate the emergence of an AI-extended employee—someone whose work becomes faster, more capable, and more ambitious because AI is embedded directly into the tools and processes they use.
Executive implication: automation professionals reveal what is possible when AI is thoughtfully integrated into daily work. Their acceleration offers a strong indication of the uplift other teams can expect as AI tools become widely available.
The human response to these changes is an essential part of the picture. The survey shows high levels of satisfaction, confidence, and optimism among automation professionals, even as their roles expand into more complex and AI-centered work.
Ninety-seven percent report satisfaction with their careers. Eighty-five percent feel valued inside their organizations. Eighty-five percent believe their role will grow in importance in the coming year. The profession’s Net Promoter Score has reached 40, a strong sign of engagement and pride in their work.

These findings suggest that as automation professionals adopt AI tools, build agentic workflows, and take on more strategic responsibilities, their motivation and sense of purpose increase as well.
